Artificial Intelligence: robots that think like humans?
In the coming decades has become a popular psychologist predicted Futuristic robot James Canton (2007). Computers will be able to make diagnoses of mental health and welfare problems. Others have predicted that spam is so the psychologists.
Canton is probably true that computers will be able to diagnose many psychological problems, even during treatment and prescribe medication. They probably play a certain segment of the work of psychologists. However, I know. How many people want to sit in front of a machine for fifty minutes to pour your heart? And how could the same machine detects the depths of the human psyche?
My belief is that simply can not, because the robot will shrink smart, but not consciousness at least not in the foreseeable future. Herein lies the fundamental difference that I would, and that many thinkers Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the critical field does not recognize.
This is one thing to say that computers are like brains, but the brain, such as computers?
Much of modern cognitive science is dominated by the metaphor of the computer. The brain can calculate and simulate and modular. But how such a human mind is a computer? Could a computer ever really mean to be smart in how a person is? Could you ever sympathize with the "spirit"? And if not, it's really important?
The whole field of artificial intelligence is focused on this objective, this belief. Many, like futurist Ray Kurzweil, Santiago Canton, Martin and James are convinced that computers are not only intelligent as humans, soon to be one hell of a lot more intelligent, including but not as a human being. The time when computers exceed human intelligence and become the world's smartest is what Kurzweil calls the "singularity." If happens, it will be a turning point in the "evolution" on this planet.
Artificial intelligence is not something lightly, simply because it seems incredible. The limits of computer technology are unknown, but probably large, perhaps incomprehensible. AI said Ray Kuzweil optimistic huge following comparison between the human brain and the computer equivalent companies.
.. Team organized optimally 2.2 pounds with reversible logic gates is about 10 to 25 atoms and can store about 10 to 27 bits. Just consider the electromagnetic interactions between particles, there are at least 1015 and the state changes by bit second that can be exploited for the calculation, resulting in about 1910 to 1942 calculations per second in the last "cold" equipment 2.2 lbs. That is about 10-16 times more powerful than all the brains that live today. If we allow our computer to warm up eventually, we can increase further as a 10-8fold. And obviously not our computing resources limited to one kilogram of matter, but ultimately deploy a large fraction of matter and energy in the Earth and in the solar system and then spread from there (Kurzweil 2005 p 434).
And in case you do not feel threatened, futuristic James Martin believes that intelligence computers just seem to humans. And they are much more intelligent. He writes:
… Real computer revolution is yet to come – with censors everywhere, nanotechnology, global data warehouse and expanded access of network bandwidth in an intense way. The main reason for the revolution it is true that we face is that machines will become intelligent. … Computers can be immensely more powerful than the human brain because their circuits are millions times faster than the neurons and axons in the brain, and can be designed to perform certain types of "thought" with great effectiveness. These computers will become an infrastructure that is everywhere, like the air we breathe, which affects almost every activity of mankind. "(Martin 2007: 207).
Martin concluded that computers will be everywhere the logical extrapolation of current trends in computing. It is, without doubt, the strong demand for the general population, small businesses, corporations, education institutions and governments to use them, then it is very likely correct.
However, this does not change the fact that many of the arguments of the proponents of AI is deeply flawed. Consciousness and intelligence are fundamentally different concepts, such as show in the second part of article.

Powder $4.32 For all its flaws, Powder is still worthwhile for attempting to be unique and well intentioned. The film’s qualities were overshadowed after its 1995 release when it was revealed that writer-director Victor Salva had served 15 months in prison for molesting a child actor during production of the 1988 TV movie Clownhouse. Controversy aside, Powder is a welcome step off the beaten path with sufficie… |
