I have a question about the movie Avatar and 3D technology that use …?
Now, if I understand correctly, using different cinemas different technologies to achieve the 3D effect. (I-Max, 3D Xpand and everyone else) I would like to know the advantages and disadvantages of each one and you think is better and why.
There are two formats that use 3D cinemas. Polarized 3D field sequential or frame. Polarized is mainly used by the U.S. and sequential field is used more abroad such as Europe. 3D uses polarized lenses that do not require electricity, so passive. For this, all the images for the right eye has a schedule light wave polarized, all images have a reverse left eye polarized light wave. Then, the lenses of the 3D glasses have polarized filters which only allow light wave for the eye to pass. The screen should be a little silver and black do not know if the light is reflected without polarization of the light wave has broken. Field sequential 3D glasses must require electricity to operate, as active rather than passive. A lens is open all the target of another company and do what comes and goes very quickly. Then, when one goal is to open the image to each eye blinks in the display. These lenses need batteries and a radio signal must be transmitted to say when the windows open and close in phase with the images on the screen. I've been in rooms that do both, more or less the same. The reverse is just the field sequential glasses needs batteries, and can stop working after many uses and are a little heavier but not much, it will last longer tinted windows and is not necessary to replace batteries. Timing can sometimes be a problem with the field sequential read, but I never realized the problems of the few times I went to a theater that used. I prefer the 3D polarized.
