Solar has great potential and are making progress in reducing the cost / kW, but still not ready to handle any worlds energy needs. I think geothermal hot rocks could probably answer most of the United States needs energy in a few decades. No nuclear waste, or unsightly towers on the horizon, do not worry about cloudy days or no wind.
