With each new technological development, if development is mobile phones, cars or computers, a new vocabulary. What is remarkable about the new vocabulary and not so new technology is its size and volume. Maybe this is not so surprising given the impact that computers have had in most of us work and live in the world of computing.
But do not forget, Internet access varies from country to country and within countries. Only 2.5 percent of the population in Uganda have access to the Internet in Nigeria, the figure is 11 percent, in Brazil the figure is 50 percent, 1.1 percent in Ecuador, South Korea the figure is 77.3 percent, Nepal who has access to 1.4 percent, Germany 67.7 percent of the population has access, the figure is 45.9 percent in Greece, Yemen, 1.4 percent of the population has access, while 72.8 percent have access to Israel (InternetWorldStats figures on the Web). People traveling in cyberspace remains be low in some places while in others they are the majority. Since only some of the world's population has access, it is unlikely that those without access to use the same vocabulary that they do not have access.
United States, approximately three quarters of the population have Internet access at home. Only 38 percent of rural Americans have broadband access. It is compared to 57 percent in cities and 60 percent in the suburbs (Cetfund figures on the Web) and the distinction between those with and those without access created a new period, the digital divide. While the term digital divide can be specific about the gap between those with access to a computer and Internet and those without, the word is part of a series of terms used to describe the rich and the havenots and insured and uninsured.
A large number of technical terms, such as digital divide, are not new words invented. These terms are words with meanings new areas such as spam, download, vaporware, postal surf, and viruses. Spam, for example, is the name of a product of Hormel canned meat, as I suspect like many avoid carry the plague. According to Wikipedia, the spam is beef with port shoulder ham, salt, water, sugar and sodium nitrite, and sales of spam has increased in the economy current. The end result for the team of spam is something you do not want, unwanted, something in the trash.
Technical language can be divided into categories term. We could talk about the Internet, hardware, software and technical terms. It could also be a list of technical acronyms that abound nontechnical in the e-mail. I suppose many of the terms of Internet software, hardware and be familiar to computer users.
Suppose we look at the term multitasking. The term originally referred to a team that can perform multiple tasks simultaneously. As the words are capable of multitasking soon became a direction to another. From a computer term, multi-tasking has become a general term that applies those that perform multiple tasks simultaneously. The ability multitasking is usually a prerequisite for the desk job in the office today.
One of my favorite expressions is the motherboard, which is the column backbone of his team. According know the technical terminology, using the word mother or father is not the norm.
