Looking for entering a program of Animal Health Technology in the hope become an assistant at a veterinary clinic or animal hospital. if anyone knows someone who's work please go exaplin me benefits, wages, inconvenience etc. .. thanks =)
First, they confuse 2 different roles in the team of veterinarians. veterinary technicians have a degree in medical technology Veterinary (Animal Health Technology) college (if you're in the U.S., where a program of the AVMA accredited veterinary technology). veterinary assistant is an entry level position requiring no formal education. There are programs to help veterinarians no value but are highly variable. I was a veterinary assistant for several years and a veterinary technician for many others. Hours vary depending on the type of facility you work. They are strictly office hours are normal or may be overnight and weekend or a mixture of both and can even be "on call" time too. Perks also depends largely the type of facility you work in. generally pay is not great and there is a lot of advantages, but you can find a job with benefits in mind. You may end up making a good wage or not much more than the minimum wage based on the amount you can choose your job. You may or may not have medical insurance for veterinary care you or reduced prices for their pets. You may find a boss who pays for their training is necessary to maintain their registration / accreditation / certification. The work is often stressful because they are animals who are sick or injured and fear. You will also assist owners and stressed that adds more discomfort stress to your day. for details on requirements for the issuance of securities in your state, you should check your state Board of Licensing Veterinary Association or veterinary technician association.
